Welcome to Little Blue
First there was Big Blue and now there is Little Blue. If you're a
programmer and you have something written you want to protect there aren't many
solutions out there that are affordable. Many are simply too expensive, or too
proprietary, or too complex. We know, we looked and couldn't find anything we
could afford. That's when "Little Blue" was born. It worked so well we
modified it for packaging to the programming community.
Little Blue uses similar technology as the big boys like Microsoft. Your
registration keys are stored inside an encrypted file. On initial startup,
LB (Little Blue) checks the registry for previous installation and activation.
If none is found, it opens the registration form to be filled out by the user.
Once a good registration key is entered, it contacts our server, (or yours) and
writes key information linking the software to that particular computer. 7
unique pieces of data are gathered to verify the program is installed on only
this computer. Once the data is written to the server, the registry is
written with key pieces of data including the registration key. If a user
alters the registry file data, it will be reported to the server and allow you
to decide if you want to deactivate the product or leave it as is.
The software using LB calls the server every so often to see if activation and
registration key data is still good. If not, it turns off the software and
asks the user to contact tech. support.
Even though a internet connection is required to register, it is not required to
run the software every time. LB simply waits till it can call home to
check if things are ok. That is why the registration keys are stored
inside the software. The encryption used is commercial grade and as long
as a good password is used, your keys will never be cracked. Storing the
keys locally allows instant verification before registration to the server takes
place. Some systems use encrypted key transfers between server and software.
They claim its impossible to crack (or nearly so) since the keys are not stored
locally. This is also true, but it does increase complexity and opens your
key data to the company who offers the service. LB allows you, the owner,
full control over who has your registration keys data and where its stored. LB
comes with a key generation program that will not only generate the keys for
you, but it will also encrypt them for use with LB and also for you to keep
locally at your place of business.
If you would like a detailed description of how LB works, send us a request by
clicking the button below to send your email address to us. We will reply with a
link that will allow you to download the pdf document showing full details of
how Little Blue works.
Note: Little Blue is written in Visual Basic 2010 and can be used with C# or VB
2010 using .Net4.0 or .Net4.5
Little Blue is available in several flavors:
1. One time purchase of $50.00 and $5.00 per month for use of our server to
store and track your software. This is by far the easiest method to use if you
are not familiar with Ms SQL server setup and database creation. It comes with
easy to use dll files that have example code to easily intgrate into your
application.
2. One time purchase of $79.00 for all software and dll files needed to use your
own server. No monthly fees from us. If you are experienced with Visual Basic
this is a good option for customizing certain features.
3. One time purchase of $300.00 for all software including source code so you
can customize the features you want and need.
